Can I process credit cards on my 1&1 site?


You cannot process credit cards on shared hosting packages and managed servers.
The credit card industry requires you to have a PCI Data Security Standards certification to be able to process credit cards on your site.

Due to security reasons a PCI Data Security Standards Security certification cannot be obtained on 1&1 shared hosting packages and managed servers. A PCI Data Security Standards certification is only available on Virtual Private Servers (VPS) and dedicated servers.

You can offer other payment methods such as bank transfers or pay on delivery, depending on your services.
