How do I transfer a domain away from 1&1?


There is no charge to transfer a domain away from 1&1.
Please check to see that there are no transfer locks on the domain and
also that the 60 day wait is over for this domain.

The 60 day wait period is not related to 1&1, but with the registry
that sets the rules.

Please note: In the event that the domain is not past its 60 days you will not be able to transfer the domain away from us until this time is up.

1. To transfer the domain away, please login to the cancellation tool at
https://cancel.1and1.com

2. Click "Cancel" from left navigation.



3. Click the package which has the domain.

4. Select "Cancel domains and/or additional items in this package"



5. Select "Change of Provider" for the domain and follow the on screen instructions.

Setting the domain to change of provider unlocks the domain and sets it to public registration.

You will need your authorization code. This can be found in your 1&1 Control Panel. Please see link below.

You may now contact the registrar you wish to transfer the domain to and ask them to request the domain. The domain will be released from our registry five(5) days after the request, given that there are no disputes or restrictions.
