What is a Root Server?Enjoy the full flexibility of services and applications - the ability to be your own webhost, run a game server or any other service you can think of. You can adapt the pre-installed Cent OS 5 system to your own needs - your personal knowledge is the only limit! The Plesk 8 control and management software suite which is also pre-installed will support you along the way. You can find an overview of the features of Plesk on our homepage. A Root Server is a computer with the following features: 1. You are its only user. You don't have to share it with any other customers. 2. You can log on to the server as "root" (administrator), which is to say you have all the access rights to the computer. 3. We provide the computer, Cent OS 5 operating system pre-installed, for you in our Data Center. From this point on you are responsible for the administration of the server. 4. We do not undertake any administrative tasks on the computer. From the time it is provided, you are responsible for any administrative tasks such as security, backup and configuration. In the event faulty components, we will replace these components as quickly as possible and at no charge. 5. The computer can only be accessed and administrated by a network connection. It is not possible to work directly from a PC using a keyboard and monitor. 6. It is your responsibility to manage the security of the server. For customers who want their own server in our Data Center for reasons of storage capacity, CPU time or process limits, 1&1 also offers a Managed Server. SD2B2C104 |
